average length for an upright penis

Studies of penis size based on self-reports found that the average length for an upright penis ranged from 6.0 between 6.3 inches (Bogaert Hershberger and Boogaert 1999; Gebhard & Johnson, 1979; Harding & Golombok, 2002; Jamison & Gebhard, 1988; Richters et al. 1995; Smith et al. 1998 Templer 2002). The average of 6.4 inches as reported in the current research (sexually experienced and unexperienced men together) is in line with the results of these studies. Homosexual men self- report even larger erect penis lengths (Bogaert & Hershberger, 1999; Coxon, 1996; Grov, Wells, & Parsons, 2013).

In four studies, in which the measurements of penises that were fully erect were taken by sex scientists and sex researchers, the average length measured 5.36 inches (n1/4541 da Ros and co. 1994; Schneider et al. 2001; S engezer et al. 2002; Wessells et al. 1996). The self-reported average penis size for sexually mature men in the current investigation (6.62 inches) was 1.26 inches larger than the average.

A significant proportion of males who have had sexual experiences could be considered excessive over-reporters (with 30.77 percent reporting penis lengths as high as 7th inches, and 10 percent reporting their erect penis length as eight inches or greater). In previous studies, it has been found that a majority of men would prefer they had a longer penis (Johnston and colleagues. 2014; Lever et al. 2006; Tiggemann et al. (2008)) The present findings suggest that self-reported the size of their penis are affected by social desire. The degree of correlation with social desire could be higher in the event that it was possible to determine actual errors scores (self-reported penis length divided by the actual length of the penis) like in studies on nutrition (see Archer et al. (2015)).

The distinction between inexperienced and experienced men in self-reported size of their penis is not reported before but it suggests that self-reporting is more common for men who have been through the process, leading to a stronger relationship in this group. We believe that the distinction between the two groups could be because of a higher level of masculinity and sexual competency and proficiency of men who have been through the process (Tiggemann and co. 2008 Wylie and Eardley, 2007).

With regards to limitation, this study utilized the convenience of male college students and it is not clear if similar results could be obtained in different categories. The males were separated from female students in the test, however, with many males comparing penis size to masculinity and sexual prowess and competence (Tiggemann and others. (2008) Wylie and Eardley 2007) The mass-testing could have affected the men’s perception of themselves and caused to them to embellish their answers more than usual.
